Construction starts expected to climb 24% in 2020 after posting strong gains in 2019

Non-building and non-residential activity poised for healthy gains in 2020, while residential work declines 19%.

“New student housing for Northern Arizona University continues to drive construction in Flagstaff,” Loven says.

“We are also all anticipating the impact that the future redevelopment of Milton Avenue will have on the city’s commercial corridor,” he notes.

Loven adds that generally speaking, these projects are reflective of an uptick in the repurposing of existing commercial spaces around Flagstaff.

“Regarding construction volume, we think it will hold steady in 2020,” he says.
