ENR Texas & Louisiana has named Huckabee as its 2016 Design Firm of the Year. Huckabee, a firm focused on learning environments, has exclusively served educational clients for 49 years and will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2017.
Huckabee has seen substantial growth since 2013, having grown its revenue by approximately 90% from 2014 to 2015. This was a result of several years of focused planning and investing in hiring the right team and developing the right solutions for its educational client base, according to CEO Chris Huckabee.
This outstanding growth also propelled Huckabee up nearly 150 spots in ENR’s Top 500 list, up to 213th.
In 2015, the firm opened a new corporate office in downtown Fort Worth, relocated offices in Houston and Austin into larger spaces and opened a new office in San Antonio.
Some of the company’s notable projects include the new Rockwall ISD Career and College Academy in Dallas, the new 167,000 sq ft Georgetown ISD Middle School in Austin and the new 355,000 sq ft Montgomery ISD High School in Houston.
In the community, Huckabee has a two-pronged approach to outreach—first, the company allows and encourages monthly paid time off for staff to volunteer locally. In addition, the firm has established The Huckabee Community Excellence Fund, a donor-advised fund that provides charitable giving to worthwhile educational and children’s needs. Huckabee has a firm wide goal of giving more than $150,000 from the fund annually, and has given more than $2 million since 2005.
