Denise de Ville has joined HOK as vice president and director of corporate commercial business development, based in San Francisco. HOK says De Ville will expand its corporate and commercial portfolio, which includes headquarters for Adobe, Apple, AMD, Biogen Idec, California State Teachers' Retirement System, Cisco, Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft, Symantec and USAA, and commercial developments for Hines; Wilson Meany Sullivan; McCarthy Cook; Boston Properties; Sares-Regis; and David Taylor Interests. Before joining HOK, she led business development for AECOM Western U.S., Ellerbe Becket and DES A+E.

Vic Sibilla has been appointed director of JBA Consulting Engineers' Orange County office. He will manage operations and provide strategic advisory services for the hospitality, health-care, aviation, theatrical, residential, education, mixed-use and office sectors. Sibilla has more than 20 years of experience with indoor air quality and building automation systems controls for hotels, including Hard Rock Hotel projects in Fort Lauderdale and Tampa, Fla.; Biloxi, Miss.; and Las Vegas. He is registered as a professional engineer in 19 states and is certified by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying.

SmithGroupJJR recently promoted Sam D'Amico and Bonnie Khang-Keating to principal. D'Amico, a senior designer in the health studio at the firm's San Francisco office, has more than 20 years of health-care design experience. He joined SmithGroupJJR in 2011 from Ashen + Allen, where he served as senior project designer. Khang-Keating, co-leader of SmithGroupJJR's Los Angeles office, joined the firm in 2011 to focus on management and business development. She previously was the managing partner of her own firm, Keating/Khang Architecture, which focused on corporate and health-care projects in California, Texas and in Korea.

Richard Freeark has been named vice president of operations for C.W. Driver's San Diego region. A 32-year construction industry veteran, Freeark will be responsible for operational oversight and client satisfaction for C.W. Driver projects, including those in the health-care, education, entertainment, hospitality and military sectors, mainly in San Diego and Los Angeles. He has spent the past nine years with C.W. Driver, where the company says he has helped it penetrate the health-care marketa key sector for C.W. Driver. His experience includes projects at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, Valley Presbyterian Hospital in Van Nuys and Kaiser Medical Center in Corona, as well as many higher-education and K-12 projects in Southern California.

Eric Robinson has been promoted to principal at Paulett Taggart Architects, San Francisco. An associate with the firm since 2010, Robinson has practiced architecture for 20 years. His work includes community facilities, libraries, museums and single-family and multifamily housing. Robinson provided technical support and peer review for 53 units of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Neighborhood Development affordable family housing at Hunters View in San Francisco's Bayview area. He was project architect/manager for a LEED-Silver office for Turner Construction in Oakland.

In addition, Roselie Enriquez has been promoted to associate at Paulett Taggart Architects. She has been with the firm since 2007 and has practiced architecture for more than eight years. Enriquez has worked on multifamily housing, custom single-family residences and office renovations. She recently served as project architect/manager for the Hunters View affordable housing project, which is under way. She also has worked on a LEED-Gold, 53,000-sq-ft tenant-improvement project for the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency.

Tony Hughes has joined California Drywall Co., San Jose, as senior project manager. Hughes has more than 28 years of drywall and plaster industry experience, including 24 years at Aderholt Specialty, where he served in several capacities. At California Drywall, Hughes will be responsible for providing overall project management for large projects, from award to closeout.

Beth Swenson Radovanovich has joined Stafford King Wiese Architects as director of health care and will be based in San Francisco. Radovanovich will lead development of the studio's existing projects and manage staff resources.

She currently oversees the additional phases of development at the University of California, Davis Medical Center's Institute for Regenerative Cures as well as modernization projects at Methodist Hospital of Sacramento, Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa, Lodi Memorial Hospital and several Kaiser Permanente facilities in Northern California. Before Radovanovich joined Stafford King Wiese, she was associate principal and health-care leader for a large, international architectural firm.

Jeffrey Caldwell, senior associate at Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates Inc., has been appointed to lead the firm's interdisciplinary team of engineers, architects and materials scientists in Los Angeles.

Caldwell specializes in evaluation and repair of concrete and masonry structures. He has been with WJE for 13 years, most recently at the firm's Princeton, N.J., and Boston offices. His project experience has focused on assessment, design and implementation of restoration programs for a range of buildings and structures.

Matt Brady has been promoted to regional vice president at Ware Malcomb, San Diego. He also joins the firm's board of directors. Brady joined Ware Malcomb as a college intern in San Diego in 1989. He re-joined the firm as project manager in the Irvine commercial studio in 1999.

In 2001, he relocated to re-open and manage the firm's San Diego office. He was promoted to director in 2003 and principal in 2004. Brady will now be responsible for the Southwest U.S. and Latin American markets, including Ware Malcomb's San Diego, Phoenix, and Panama City offices.

Leonard Joseph, principal at Thornton Tomasetti, Irvine, has been named co-chair of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat's Outrigger Design Working Group. Thornton Tomasetti's New York senior principal Hi Sun Choi was also named a co-chair. The working group, which also includes co-chairs Neville John Mathias from Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, San Francisco, and Dr. Goman Wai-Ming Ho from Ove Arup & Partners, Hong Kong, is currently developing the first outrigger system design guide, which will provide an overview of the history, design considerations and recommendations for outrigger systems. The design guide is expected to be published later this year.

Pia-Jacqlyn Malinis has been named Avila Design's first brand manager. Malinis is a 2010 graduate of California College of the Arts, from which she received a bachelor's degree in architecture, with distinction.

Her recent projects include collateral development for national and international accounts, conceptual design for numerous marketing and promotional projects and website enhancements and updates. In her new position, Malinis will lead all aspects of the firm's corporate branding initiatives. She is based at its Berkeley headquarters.

Dave Ludwin has been named the program management director for HDR's water business group. He will be based in the Los Angeles office. Ludwin comes to HDR from Parsons Water and Infrastructure, where he served as vice president for business development, primarily in the western U.S.

He previously held positions at CH2M Hill, including principal program manager for the global water business group and operations manager/regional business group manager of the Southwest region. He also was director of engineering for the Orange County Sanitation District in Fountain Valley, where he managed a 90-person department.

Earlier in his 33-year career, Ludwin worked for HDR as director of water/wastewater operations and business development for Southern California. A professional engineer, Ludwin received a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and a master's in environmental engineering.

Robert Blasberg has joined Leo A Daly as regional director of federal programs, based in Los Angeles. Blasberg will be responsible for business development in the western U.S., focusing on clients such as the General Services Administration, the Dept. of Defense, the Dept. of Veteran Affairs and other federal agencies. His responsibilities will include developing relationships with prospective clients, managing relationships with existing clients and identifying new project opportunities.

Blasberg has more than 17 years of leadership experience in planning, project and program management and business development in military and other federal markets. Before joining Leo A Daly, he was vice president of federal services for Psomas in Los Angeles. Earlier, he was a senior water resources study manager in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District for 12 years.

Eric Mudge has been hired as senior project manager for Pacific Building Group's medical division. The group focuses on Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development projects at occupied acute-care hospitals in San Diego County.

Mudge recently moved to San Diego from Lehigh, Pa., and has more than 15 years of experience on complex medical projects and extensive experience completing CM-at-risk and design-build projects for corporate and public owners.
