Sonia Sorensen

SORENSON
has joined Ware Malcomb as engineering regional manager; she will oversee the firm's civil engineering practice across its offices in Los Angeles, San Diego and Irvine. With nearly 20 years of engineering experience, Sorensen most recently ran her own engineering and environmental consulting business. Prior to that, she worked at Southern California Edison for more than a decade.

Martin Green has been hired as senior information technology project manager by Gafcon, a construction manager in San Diego. He will maintain the firm's cloud-based technology platforms. Green brings nearly 30 years of experience leading technical teams in large, complex projects to his new role.

William K. Lu

has been promoted to vice president in the Irvine office of Conor Commercial Real Estate. He will provide strategic direction and oversight of development throughout the Western region. Lu joined McShane Cos.—the parent company of Conor Commercial—in 2007 as development manager and was promoted to senior development manager in 2010.

Real estate developer Wood Partners has hired Trinity Blue as senior vice president of operations for the Western region in its San Francisco office. She previously served as vice president of AvalonBay Communities in New York, where she specialized in managing a portfolio of multistory apartment buildings. Blue is a former national instructor at the Chicago-based Institute of Real Estate Management.

Peter Schlosser has joined Stantec as senior principal in its San Francisco office. Schlosser has more than 30 years of experience designing health care, higher education and commercial projects.

Donna L. Carpenter joins Stantec's Bakersfield office as senior associate in the firm's community development practice. She brings more than 30 years of experience managing large-scale master-planned communities.

Kevin McKown

MCKOWN
has been appointed vice president of sales and marketing at MMFX Steel Corp., Irvine. McKown has worked for more than 25 years in the specialty steel and manufacturing sectors. He previously served as general manager for several companies, including Scheu Steel, Jacquet Metal Services, Curtiss-Wright and Crane Co. McKown has a master's degree in business administration from the University of South Carolina and a bachelor's degree from Allegheny College.

The northern Pacific division of McCarthy Building Cos. has hired Nicholas Sandersfeld as director of business development for its new San Jose office. Sandersfeld brings more than 10 years of experience working in the construction industry in the Silicon Valley area. He is actively involved in the local chapters of the Urban Land Institute and NAIOP Commercial Real Estate Development Association, along with nonprofit organizations such as Rebuilding Together.
