STOWE
Joe C. Stowe, a senior management consultant with McKim & Creed in Charlotte, was recognized by the international nonprofit group Water For People with its 2013 Robert W. Hite Award. The organization presents the award annually to an individual "who models the best in leadership with innovation, creativity and commitment" to the principles of the work performed by the group. Stowe received the honor at the Water Environment Federation's recent annual conference. Ned Breslin, CEO of Water For People, said Stowe "has been instrumental in Water For People's transformation" and "helped us reshape our program for greater impact."

Stowe, who joined McKim & Creed in 2008, has more than 52 years of experience in the water management industry, including 12 years as director of utilities for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utility Dept.

 

PHILYAW
David Philyaw was promoted to vice president of the building division at contractor T.A. Loving Co. in Goldsboro, N.C. He has been with the company for 10 years and has 15 years of experience working on health care and sports projects.

Tom Plant has been appointed principal in charge of the Carolinas region for contractor and real estate firm Lend Lease. Plant, who is based in Durham, N.C., will oversee all operations for the firm's Raleigh-Durham office as well as ongoing work in its Charlotte and Atlanta offices. Previously, he served as director of operations in Durham. He has more than 30 years of construction industry experience.

 

REICH
John Reich has joined Skanska USA in its Atlanta office as a project executive for the contractor's sports division. He will assist with the pursuit and management of sports projects across the country. Reich, with 39 years of industry experience, recently worked as a project executive for Houston-based Satterfield and Pontikes Construction.

Paula M. Marino was named senior vice president of engineering and construction services for Atlanta-based power utility Southern Co., where she will be responsible for technical services, design, safety, planning and construction. She previously served as vice president of engineering for Southern Nuclear, a subsidiary.

Kenneth Gross was appointed project executive at Plaza Construction, Miami. A 40-year veteran of South Florida, with a focus on resort and residential projects, he will oversee personnel and services from preconstruction through closeout in his new role.

The firm also named Alan Kaplan project executive. He has 30 years of experience in the South Florida construction market. Plaza Construction also announced the appointment of Chris Lipke to the position of senior project manager. He has 35 years of industry experience, with a recent focus on South Florida commercial projects.

Brian Devlin has joined contractor Ryan Cos. US Inc. as vice president for the firm's Southeast region, based in Tampa, where he will lead the pursuit of build-to-suit projects. Devlin, who has 12 years of real-estate development experience, will be responsible for all aspects of project development in his new position. He most recently served as a first vice president with real estate firm CBRE Group.

Traci Miller was named vice pres-ident of business development and marketing for Miller Construction Co., Fort Lauderdale, Fla. She joined the firm in 1993 and recently served on its board of directors.

Jeff Whitten, senior vice president at Starr Electric Co., Charlotte, was named chairman of the Associated Builders and Contractors of the Carolinas. Other 2014 chapter board members include Kurt Eyring, of Miller Valentine; Dave Knudson, of Choate Construction; Brian Gallagher, who works for O'Neal; and Scott Colter, of Colter Electric. Also, Tom Headlee, with Watson Electric Co., was appointed treasurer of the Charlotte-based chapter.

James Trogdon III has joined the Raleigh office of Atkins as vice president of business development and sales for the mid-Atlantic region. He was chief operating officer of the North Carolina Dept. of Transportation, where he helped reshape the agency's funding formula into a more data-driven approach during the 2013 legislative session, according to the company.

Howard Haynes joined the Orlando office of Hill International as senior vice president in charge of its construction claims group operations in Florida. He previously served as senior vice president of Delta Consulting Group and as president and founder of Haynes Massa & Associates.

Camille Dominguez was named a lead engineer in Miami for Parsons Brinckerhoff to manage water and wastewater projects in South and Central Florida. Previously, she worked for the South Florida Water Management District. The firm also hired Lynn Kendrick in Orlando as a senior supervising engineer to manage transportation projects throughout Central Florida. He was a senior transportation project manager at Stanley Consultants.

Brad Wilson was promoted to vice president-general superintendent of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based construction manager Moss & Associates.
