The architects with Populous designed the stadium to pay tribute to Miami's art deco style as well as its Caribbean influence and proximity to the ocean.

As a result, the ballpark "manifests its architectural expression in a unique way," Greg Sherlock, a principal with Kansas City, Mo.-based Populous, told ENR Southeast earlier this year.

Bright, varying colors define the ballpark's interior—especially the yellow, blue, red and white included in the baseball team's new logo. Instead of muted hues, the Miami stadium features bright blue seats and bold green trim around the outfield warning track. Enlivening the area behind the left-field wall—which moves to reveal a view of the Miami skyline—is a South Beach-themed club, complete with swimming pool.

Finishing the modern design approach is an exterior built of glass and steel—along with that gleaming, white roof.
