SpawGlass Contractors completed the $26-million, 60,000-sq-ft Biomedical Research and Health Professions Building at the University of Texas at Brownsville campus in September 2012.
The project team achieved an OSHA recordable incident rate of zero, with no lost-time accidents in 328,642 man-hours on the job. SpawGlass developed a site-specific safety and health policy manual. All salaried team members were OSHA 30-hour certified and all hourly team members were OSHA 10-hour certified.
SpawGlass and OSHA entered into a CLAS partnership on the project, where OSHA exempts SpawGlass from programmed inspections while all of SpawGlass' safety inspections are forwarded to OSHA for statistical compilation.
