Engineer seeks solutions for water supply and sanitation
39, Vice President
CP&Y Inc.
San Antonio, Texas
With global water supply one of today's most critical engineering challenges, Marisa Vergara is helping devise solutions as San Antonio-based leader of CP&Y's water-wastewater division.
During her 16 years as an engineer, Vergara has worked to advance innovation, from leading the firm's work on major engineering projects such as San Antonio's Aquifer Storage and Recovery project to key industry leadership roles.
Most recently she co-chaired Texas Water 2012, the country's largest regional water conference. Vergara also served in leadership roles for the American Water Works Association and other industry professionals groups and has been active in Water For People, a worldwide group focused on sustainable water and sanitation solutions in developing countries.
While Vergara's contributions have earned company and industry recognition, she has larger motivations. "I am proud to have been able to leverage my position at CP&Y to give back to my community and to the industry by supporting the growth of its future leaders through mentoring the next generation of engineers," Vergara points out. "I am also proud to have served my company for 16 years and am looking forward to our exciting future." She notes its recent expansion beyond state borders.
