San Ramon-based Engineering & Utility Contractors Association recently held its 40th annual installation of the Board of Directors and Officers at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco, with nearly 300 people in attendance including 25 contractor companies.
Rob Layne of O.C. Jones & Sons, Inc. opened with an invocation and told the group, �We are in a unique position to directly influence the environment and quality of life for all of our communities.�
Second-generation president, Christian Young of D.W. Young Construction, Inc. was installed along with the 2010 Board of Directors and Officers by Young�s uncle, Hal Daseking, CEO of SiCure Mobile, Inc.
2010 President Young�s experience in the construction industry started at a young age while going to the office or job sites with his father at his company, D.W. Young Construction Co., Inc. After graduating from California State University, Chico with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, Christian worked for his father as a project manager. In 1997 he began to take a far greater role in the operations of D.W. Young, which would benefit him in the future years. In 2004 Christian�s father, David W. Young (EUCA President 1988), unexpectedly passed away. Chris carried the business forward, using his college education and also the education he received from his father and his father�s friends.
D.W. Young Construction Co., Inc. has been with EUCA for 28 years. Young has served on the Government Relations Committee, Spec Committee, Scholarship Committee and the Board of Directors.
Awards given out for the evening included the �Associate Distinguished Member Service Award� to Tyler Kannon of Gallagher Construction Services, who represents the unity of purpose of the EUCA membership, both contractors and associates.
The �Digger Award� was presented to Past President Rusty Hoseley, R&L Brosamer, Inc., for his dedicated long-term service and committee leadership in his efforts to benefit the industry and members of EUCA.
A special �We Dig California� award was given to Senator Dianne Feinstein in recognition of her commitment and service for the advancement of clean water in America.
