The Anaheim City Council has approved the team of Parsons Brinckerhoff/HOK as the design architects and engineers for phase one of the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center complex. ARTIC is expected to serve as a connectivity gateway and mixeduse destination on a 16-acre site owned by the Orange County Transit Authority and the city of Anaheim.
The design submitted by PB/HOK is a 66,000-sq-ft transportation facility that can add additional space.
The building is expected to seek a LEED Platinum rating. ARTIC is expected to provide easy connections between various locations in Anaheim and throughout Orange County and is expected to link to the California high-speed rail project.
ARTIC is a multi-year, multi-phase project with each phase coinciding with new and/or expanded transportation services and development. The first phase of this project, valued at approximately $180 million, shall consist of site work and preparation, transportation center and supporting facilities, trackwork and platforms, parking, public art, and access and street improvements. Completion date is expected mid 2013.
