EnPak: Innovative Way to Power Tools with Less Fuel

Wisconsin-based Miller Electric Mfg. Co. recently launched EnPak, an innovative way to power tools on a service truck—cranes, compressors, welders and generators—using up to 30% less fuel. The EnPak powers components with a 27-hp Kubota diesel engine instead of a 300-hp truck engine, power take-off and pump.

Miller has created a fuel-effi cient product in a single unit that produces electrical and hydraulic power and compressed air for use on service trucks, with a comparable price-point as current power take-off-driven equipment. The product is also compact enough to be easily installed on service trucks.

EnPak distributor QT Equipment of Ohio placed the fi rst two units off the assembly line into the fi eld fl eet of a large highway contractor. The setup was a GMC 5500 chassis with a Dominator I body and 3820 telescoping crane, both manufactured by Iowa Mold Tooling Co. Inc.

QT has produced a demonstration video at www.qtequipment.com.
