This project consists of designing a complex interchange at existing I-70 to the new Mississippi River Bridge.
Opus Holdings LLC of Minneapolis recently named Tom Shaver as president and chief executive officer of Opus North Corp., a full service design-build development firm serving the north central portion of the U.S. from its headquarters in Chicago. Shaver replaces Danny Queenan, who is leaving the company for another position.
Shaver joins Opus North from Opus Northwest LLC, where he has been serving as vice president of development. Shaver joined Opus Northwest in 2005 and has been responsible for office and industrial development in the Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota markets.
Before joining Opus, Shaver served as vice president and city manager for Liberty Property Trust, where he was responsible for overseeing all Minneapolis operations. Shaver also worked at CB Richard Ellis Inc. for 12 years, specializing in industrial sales and leasing.
He serves on the board of directors of the NAIOP Commercial Real Estate Development Association and is a past president of the organization. Shaver is 1984 graduate of the University of St. Thomas and holds a bachelor’s degree in business management.
Indianapolis-based construction firm Shiel Sexton Company recently announced that John Andrews has become its newest partner. Andrews joined the firm in 2003 and currently serves as its director of marketing and business development. He received a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University in 2000 and will receive an MBA from Butler University in May.

Warren Seil, president of Morgan/Harbour Construction of Woodridge, Ill., recently announced that Benjamin J. Warriner has been promoted to vice president of construction from senior project manager. In his new role, Warriner will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the company’s projects and project management team. Warriner will also continue to assist in developing new business and maintaining existing client relationships.
Baxter & Woodman Inc. Consulting Engineers of Crystal Lake, Ill., recently announced the promotion of senior engineer Derek J. Wold to water/wastewater group leader. Wold has been a member of the Baxter & Woodman team since 1996. He earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and a master’s degree in environmental engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology.
Zurich, a property and casualty insurance provider globally and in North America, recently named Scott Rasor as head of Zurich North America Commercial’s Construction Group. Rasor previously served as senior vice president for construction, specializing in residential and specialty risks. He will be based in Zurich in North America’s Schaumburg, Ill., headquarters.
APPOINTMENTS
The American Society of Home Inspectors recently introduced David Tamny as its newest president at ASHI’s annual Inspection World conference in Las Vegas, Jan.17-20.
Tamny, who owns Professional Property Inspection, a home and commercial property inspection company serving Central Ohio, joined ASHI in 1993 and became the founding president of the North Central Ohio ASHI Chapter.
He served as ASHI’s national president elect from 2008-2009 and as its national treasurer for the three years prior.
Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture LLP of Chicago recently announced the launch of an affiliated energy services, engineering and consulting firm, PositivEnergy Practice LLC, with Roger E. Frechette III as the firm’s founding president.
PositivEnergy Practice will conceive, design, implement and manage energy performance, resource management and carbon reduction strategies.
Frechette, a licensed mechanical engineer and LEED-accredited professional with more than two decades of experience in the field of sustainable engineering and building design, joins PositivEnergy after leaving his position as director in charge of sustainable engineering at the Chicago office of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill.
