Welcome to Mountain States Construction’s annual ranking of the Mountain States’ and Plains’ regions biggest projects completed in this calendar year, plus a list of new projects that have broken or will break ground in 2010. Projects were submitted by firms from Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, North and South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming using questionnaires e-mailed to them or made available at www.mountainstates.construction.com this spring.

Firms from any segment of the industry were eligible to submit projects, including owners, architects, engineers, GCs and subs. The top projects were selected from the questionnaires submitted by the firms themselves. Total construction dollar volume of projects was the only criteria for ranking. Firms that did not (or could not by owner preference) submit project costs were omitted from the rankings.

Criteria: Projects must have been started (for the new projects rankings) or completed (for all other lists) during calendar year 2010 by firms with a permanent office in one of the six states. Projects whose start or completion dates fell outside that time period were not eligible. Project sites must be located in the Mountain States and Plains regions. The annual Top Projects survey is a free editorial service provided by Mountain States Construction magazine. No firms paid any fees to be considered for the lists or included on them.

This issue of Mountain States Construction does not include Design Matters. We will resume the Design Matters section in the July issue.
