Silver Hard Hat Award
Gateway Resort Palisade Academy & Mission Bell Amphitheatre
Submitted by Martino and Luth Inc.
This project consisted of the construction of two buildings within a much larger resort development in Gateway, located south of Grand Junction.
The Palisade Academy is mainly a one-story building with a small second story and is approximately 21,000 sq ft, and will serve as an outdoor recreational school. The building houses a lecture hall, movie theatre, several classrooms, a restaurant, an atrium, and back of house support spaces such as offices and storage rooms.
The Mission Bell is a 5,400-sq-ft stage and storage building for a large outdoor amphitheatre. It will serve as a place for outdoor concerts, plays and weddings.
The project team had to overcome the remote location of this project, which impacted the labor force as well as delivery of materials. Both buildings are seeking LEED certification.
