8. Widening of I-15

The Interstate 15 CORE project will expand freeway capacity from Lehi Main Street to Spanish Fork Main Street in Utah by adding two travel lanes in each direction. In addition, 55 bridges will be improved and 10 interchanges will be rebuilt and reconfigured.

9. New Connector Route Creating Utah’s First

Diverging Diamond Interchange

Cost: $264 million

Pioneer Crossing, a new east-west connector from American Fork through Lehi to Saratoga Springs is over 60% complete. The project includes a new five-lane urban arterial from Redwood Road in Saratoga Springs to 300 East in Lehi; seven lanes from 300 East to American Fork Main Street; Utah’s first diverging diamond interchange at I-15 and American Fork Main Street, and utility improvements.

10. Dixie Drive Interchange

Cost: $76.9 million

A new interchange at I-15 in St. George will be formed by realigning Dixie Drive along the north side of the Southgate Golf Course. A system of one-way roads will provide connectivity to the Bluff Street Interchange.

11. Southern Parkway (six phases)

St. George to Hurricane
Start: Summer 2009 Finish: Fall 2010 (this phase)
Contractor: Wadsworth Brothers
Cost: $167.5 million

The Southern Parkway is a 26-mile expressway providing a belt route from I-15 at milepost 2 in St. George, to SR-9 in Hurricane. In addition, the project will provide access to the St. George’s Industrial park, the new Regional Airport presently under development and numerous planned developments along the corridor.

12. Colorado River Bridge

Davis County
Start: Spring 2009 Finish: Dec. 2010
Contractor: Wadsworth Brothers
Cost: $38.5 million

Twin bridges will replace the old bridge spanning the Colorado River on U.S. 191. The new structures will enhance capacity and safety for motorists and pedestrians while complimenting the surrounding environment. Features include pedestrian and bike trail improvements, a turning lane at S.R. 128 and modifications to U.S. 191 where the bridge will connect with the existing highway.

13. Hinckley Drive Extension to Midland Drive

Start: Fall 2009 Finish: Fall 2010
Contractor: Ralph L. Wadsworth Construction
Cost: $20 million

UDOT is extending Hinckley Drive west from 1900 West to Midland Drive to provide a direct connection to I-15 for southwest Weber County residents. The project comprises of one of the longest non-freeway bridges ever built in Utah. The bridge extends more than 300 ft across the Union Pacific Railroad and UTA FrontRunner tracks. The project includes a new four-lane road, realignment of existing roads, two new bridges, a pedestrian trail underpass and a new signalized intersection at Midland Drive in West Haven, Utah.
