New Projects
Here is a list of new construction projects that will be under way this summer:
• U.S. 85 Bypass in Greeley: This project will reconstruct the U.S. 85 bypass from U.S. 34 to 5th Street. Pavement will be removed and replaced, median and asphalt shoulder replaced with concrete, the turn lanes will be extended and widened to current standards, traffic signals will be replaced at 5th and 16th streets, bridge decks will be replaced at the twin bridges over the Poudre River, and railroad tracks will be removed at 16th Street, allowing for upgrades to the intersection. The $12.4-million project is scheduled to start in June and be completed in summer 2013.
• S.H. 392 Resurfacing Near Windsor: Resurfacing will take place on S.H. 392 just east of I-25 to 7th Street (S.H. 257) in Windsor (roughly 11 miles), adjacent to the I-25/S.H. 392 interchange improvements. Work is scheduled from May through October on this $5.5-million project.
• I-25 Frontage Road Over the Little Thompson River: A bridge reconstruction will replace the existing steel structure with a longer and slightly higher concrete structure to accommodate flood flows in the Little Thompson River. The existing structure was constructed in 1938, had reached a rating of “poor” and was deemed structurally deficient. The project will be located on the I-25 frontage road between MM 245 and MM 250, Mead to Johnstown. The $1.3-million project, funded through the Colorado Bridge Enterprise, will begin in September and is expected to finish by June 2013.
• U.S. 34 Resurfacing in Greeley: This $5.5-million resurfacing project from MM 113 to MM 115 is expected to last from August to January 2013.
• U.S. 85 Intersection/Safety Improvements Project in Fort Lupton: A safety improvements project at U.S. 85 and County Road 16 will reconfigure the intersection, and cable rail and guardrail will be installed. The $3-million project, funded through FASTER, is expected to start in June.
• U.S. 85 Resurfacing Between Brighton and Fort Lupton: This resurfacing project will add rumble strips and re-stripe the roadway in the southbound lanes (MM 236 to MM 241) from Brighton to Fort Lupton. The $3.3-million project is expected to last from June to August.
• S.H. 119 Jay/Niwot Intersection Reconstructions in Boulder County: This involves complete intersection reconstructions with associated signal, drainage and irrigation improvements. The $5.5-million project is expected to begin in September and finish in March 2013.
• S.H. 157 (Foothills Parkway) Bridge Deck Replacement Over U.S. 36 in Boulder: This bridge deck replacement will also encompass associated roadway tie-in work on each end of the bridge. The $1.9-million project is expected to begin in August and finish in January 2013.
• U.S. 34 Wray Bridge Replacement: This $3-million project will replace a timber bridge over the north fork of the Republican River between Wray and Laird (MM 254 and MM 255). It will begin in June and be complete in October.
