As part of its 3rd Annual Vision Awards, the Southeast Florida/Caribbean District Council of the Urban Land Institute presented the 2009 “Project of the Year” award went to the $472-million, 570,000-sq-ft Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County.
The infill development project, located along downtown Miami’s Biscayne Corridor, was designed by Cesar Pelli of Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects. The Arsht Center is Miami-Dade County’s largest-ever public/private-sector partnership.
The association also honored Terry Stiles with its 2009 Lifetime Achievement Award. Stiles is chairman and CEO of Stiles Corp., a real-estate development and construction company headquartered in Fort Lauderdale. The award recognized Stiles as a commercial real estate innovator and community steward.
Since 1971, he has guided the Stiles organization as one of the largest full-service commercial real estate investment and development firms in the southeastern U.S., responsible for more than 37 million sq ft of industrial, office, mixed-use and retail space.
