PROJECT COST: $100.8 Million
This new 5.35-mi roadway project located in Maricopa County and within the City of Peoria includes more than 2.1 million cu yds of roadway excavation and more than 8 million lbs of reinforced steel, 341,300 sq yds of Portland Cement Concrete Pavement and 20,306 tons of asphaltic concrete.
The project also calls for six cast-in-place, post-tensioned box girder concrete bridges, 12 precast, prestressed AASHTO girder concrete bridges, and nine box culverts, plus retaining walls, cement stabilized bank protection, lift station and water, reclaimed water and sewer line installation.
Extensive salvage of native vegetation was required, including the protected Saguaro cactus. The plants were housed in an on-site nursery and will be transplanted along the roadway upon completion as part of the landscaping.
