NorthGate Constructors installed perimeter signage on the DFW Connector corridor and construction started in mid-February along SH 114 and SH 121. The $1.02-billion project is being built under a comprehensive development agreement between TxDOT and NorthGate Constructors. The CDA allows for NorthGate Constructors to design and build the project simultaneously.
The 8-mi initial phase of the project is designed to improve safety, mobility and air quality by doubling roadway capacity with the addition of new general purpose lanes, toll-managed lanes and continuous frontage roads. The project is scheduled to be complete by 2014. Remaining portions of the total 14.4-mi project are unfunded.
NorthGate Constructors is a joint venture led by Fort Worth-based Kiewit Texas Construction and Zachary Construction Corp. of San Antonio.
