The Spring Branch Independent School District awarded a $13.5-million contract to Houston-based Satterfield & Pontikes Construction for demolition and reconstruction of Meadow Wood Elementary School and partial renovation of the remaining facilities. Plano-based SHW Architects is the architect.
In addition, through an association with Burlingame, Calif.-based Environmental Chemical Corp., Satterfield & Pontikes completed work on Medical Instructional Facility 3 at Fort Sam Houston’s health-care education campus in San Antonio. It is part of the post’s Medical Education Training Campus to consolidate medical training programs for all branches of the U.S. military.
The 175,000-sq-ft MIF 3 facility will house administrative and academic support staff.
Satterfield & Pontikes and Environmental Chemical are also building METC MIF 4, a 245,000-sq-ft structure that will accommodate training for emergency and preventive medicine. MIF 4 will be done by year’s end.
The $128-million design-build project for MIF 3 and 4 represent the largest facilities in the planned METC. Once METC is complete, all enlisted medics will train in San Antonio.
