PROJECT COST: $70,472,200
The New Yukon High School sits on 110 acres with a student capacity of 2,500. The site is shared with an existing high school, which will eventually become the intermediate school. The shared space required the incorporation of a common road for bus traffic. The project team also incorporated an existing baseball field and recently constructed field house into the design.
Site access was tricky, with traffic to the jobsite limited to one street due to an existing railroad right-of-way along the north property line.
In an attempt to bring in a variety of design ideas, the school district used a charrette-style process, which involved 35 community stakeholders, end-users and board members.
