Section 28 of the President George Bush Turnpike is one part of an ongoing series of projects currently under construction by the North Texas Turnpike Authority. The project is 2.3 mi in length and includes 1.4 mi of bridges that cross the environmentally sensitive Rowlett Creel estuary system. The project is the first of the last four northern sections that will ultimately connect IH-20 in Grand Prairie with IH-30 in Garland and will eventually be more than 70 mi in length.
Work includes grading, drainage, bridge construction, concrete-pavement placement, retaining-wall construction, illumination, signage and toll gantries.
