Inclement weather and an occupied site complicated building Northeast Lakeview Campus for San Antonio’s Alamo Colleges.
The team had to deal with continuing construction without impacting an activite campus. During the latter phases, the campus would be occupied.
With careful planning of staging and delivery of materials and day-to-day communication with the college, the team was able to successfully complete the project without hindering the faculty or student body.
The GC/CM, Austin Commercial, was also faced with five weeks of almost continuous rainy weather during the first months of the project. The contractor, design team and subcontractors overcame this through open lines of communication, prompt review and approval of submittals, careful and concise coordination between subcontractors and a willingness to work the hours needed to get the job done.
The campus is located on 220 acres and includes 370,000 sq ft of facilities and a 2,770-car parking lot. Facilities include an academic building, library, science building, physical plant, career technology building, performing arts building and fine arts building.
