Chris Hipwell was recently hired as the new president for Associated Builders and Contractors Utah Chapter. Hipwell was chosen after a national search to fill the position concluded in September. Her involvement with ABC Utah began in 2003, when she served on several chapter committees. She advanced to the board of directors in 2005. In 2006 she was appointed to the executive board and served as chairman in 2008.

Her construction background includes 10 years of marketing/business development for a large Utah commercial contractor.

Todd Zampedri
ZAMPEDRI

R&O Construction estimator Todd Zampedri has joined the ranks of company employees who are LEED accredited. He has been with R&O Construction since 2006 and is a graduate of Weber State University with a bachelor’s degree in construction management.

Colorado

Stacey Stegman, public relations director for the Colorado Dept. of Transportation, was named PR Professional of the Year at the annual National Transportation Public Affairs Workshop held in Boise last week.

NTPAW is sponsored by the American Association of State Highway & Transportation Officials’ subcommittee on Public Affairs.

Stegman was selected for the honor by her peers in the transportation industry. The nomination noted her leadership—both within and outside CDOT—her handling of emergencies and crises, and her commitment to providing timely and accurate information to the public.

Patrick Alley has joined Guarantee Electrical Co. as director of preconstruction–western region. Alley joins Guarantee aftermore than 40 years of field and managerial experience in electrical construction with an emphasis on health-care, institutional, commercial and industrial projects.

He is a registered electrical contractor in Colorado and has earned a master license in Colorado. Alley is a graduate of San Jacinto College and the University of Houston.

William K. Glazener recently joined Fort Collins’ Drahota as its director of operations. Glazener has 34 years of experience in the construction and real estate development industries. He started in the trades and began his professional career at Hensel Phelps Construction Co. with successful endeavors at The Neenan Co. and Rudolph|Libbe Construction in Ohio. Most recently, Glazener was a partner/principal with Brinkman Partners in Fort Collins.

Glazener will oversee general operations and all construction operations at Drahota.

Marsha Nelson of Mortenson Construction was recently promoted to community outreach manager. She joined the firm as the community outreach coordinator in 2005, responsible for planning and coordination of activities with community leaders, including minority- and women-owned business enterprises and small business concerns.

In her new role, her responsibilities will include more oversight and overall management. She serves on the construction goals committee for the Denver Office of Economic Development, is a member of the Black Chamber of Commerce, the Women’s Chamber of Commerce and the Asian Chamber of Commerce, and a diversity committee member of the Associated Builders and Contractors Rocky Mountain Chapter and the Hispanic Contractors of Colorado.
