Cheryl A. Smith has been elevated to principal at Cope Linder Architects LLC, Philadelphia. She had been a senior associate. Smith has managed the firm’s design work on key building projects in that city and in Atlantic City, N.J. She also co-chairs the Philadelphia Building Enclosure Council, a forum for emerging building envelope issues that was founded by the American Institute of Architects and the National Institute of Building Sciences.
Bruce Carchidi has joined Davis, Bowen & Friedel Inc., Salisbury, Md., as lead architect and project manager. He had formerly worked at Brasher Design and Beyer Blinder Belle.
Gannett Fleming Architects Inc., Fairfax, Va., has named Thomas Massey as vice president and facilities manager. He had been a principal and senior architect at Jacobs Engineering and also was a vice president at VOA Associates Inc.
Bridges & Co., a Wexford, Pa., general contractor, has hired Kimberly Ridenour as director of marketing and business development. She is a former business development manager at Stantec and Thorburn Associates and currently serves as a director of the Pittsburgh chapter of the Society for Marketing Professional Services.
Brian Lattimer returns to Baltimore-based consulting engineer Jensen Hughes as vice president of research and development. He had been a mechanical engineering professor at Virginia Tech University and director of its Extreme Environments, Robotics and Materials Laboratory. Lattimer previously was a senior engineer at the firm. He specializes in material response in fires, heat transfer, fire dynamics, fire modeling, robotics and technology for firefighting.
