Eastern Shore Natural Gas is planning the Eastern Shore Natural Gas System Reliability Project, a series of upgrades in the state to its pipeline system. Advancement is pending Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approvals. The company hopes to start construction on the design-bid-build project in the third quarter of 2016. Engleside at King Farm Retirement Community, Rockville, plans to build three new connected buildings totaling 374,000 sq ft.: a one-story health living center; a seven- story independent-living tower; and a three-story memory- support facility. A 228-space garage would be built under the independent-living building. Pre-application submittals are under review. A construction start date is not set. National Industries for the Blind plans a new headquarters in Alexandria. The 100,000-sq-ft, structural steel building, designed by Davis, Carter, Scott in McLean, Va., would have eight stories above grade and four below grade. Plans call for masonry units for exterior walls, cast-in-place concrete for floors and a metal roof deck. The plan includes 60,000 sq ft for the headquarters, 30,000 sq ft of leasable office space, 10,000 sq ft of retail and four levels of below-grade parking.
