The biggest projects in Lafayette at the moment are the Interstate-49 Connector and the new Lafayette Regional Airport terminal, Richard says. “With a new administration and a downturn in the energy industry, funding is the primary issue for municipal work,” she says. “Although the Lafayette economy is fairly diversified, the energy industry is still a significant part of the economy. The medical and retail industries are thriving.” Richard adds that municipal work is fairly steady, although “we foresee a mild slowdown in private construction.”
