The new Intermountain Cottonwood Medical Clinic is a world-class facility that provides patient-focused health care on the campus of the Orthopedic Specialty Hospital in Murray, Utah. The 78,000-sq-ft, four-story facility was designed to meet the growth needs of several primary-care and medical-subspecialty practices. The clinic houses internal medicine, family medicine, endocrinology, rheumatology, podiatry, pain services, x-rays and labs, along with the relocated Murray InstaCare and Cottonwood Pharmacy. The design focused on creating integrated spaces that support team-based care, improved efficiency and an extraordinary patient experience.
Some of the project’s key components are a third-level break room and balcony that offer views of the Wasatch Range; a cantilevered entry canopy entirely clad in composite panels; an entry stair with an all-glass curtain wall, glass railing and terrazzo treads on a single center stringer; and a significant amount of glass curtain wall to provide natural light on all sides of the building.
The project team collaborated closely with staff to minimize patient-care disruptions. As a result, the hospital was able to successfully serve patients throughout construction.
The project is seeking LEED Silver certification and was built using lean principles.
