The East Quad Campus—recently renamed the Regis F. Groff Campus after the school teacher, politician, civil servant and second African-American elected to the Colorado State Senate—is a new Denver Public School that houses two charter schools: KIPP and STRIVE. Both charters have a strong following among families seeking a college-focused educational environment for their kids, and both wanted facilities that would educate middle school through high school students in the rapidly growing area west of Denver International Airport.

The first phase developed 18 acres of the site and constructed a 71,166-sq-ft building for 500 students. The design-build team delivered two two-story classroom wings with small-group areas connected to shared spaces. Those included a competition-size gymnasium with 500 seats, a cafetorium, athletic fields and other support facilities. Under a separate contract, the second phase will build space for another 500 students. The master plan includes more expansion, with minor modifications, to accommodate up to 1,600 students.
