The project team completed this $66.5-million, 258,000-sq-ft school in just 18 months, logging 582,000 man-hours and zero lost-time accidents. Given that the crews would be working on an active campus during the second phase of construction, the team developed extensive preproject safety plans.
Workers also used electronic-reporting technology that predicts the likelihood, frequency and location of jobsite injuries using input from site-specific data. Employees were provided with a smart phone on site, allowing them to enter observations and upload information to a database, which in turn provided real-time feedback about the level of safety on the jobsite.
