As one of the largest-ever Texas projects to attain Platinum LEED certification, this 2.1-million-sq-ft headquarters incorporates a 20,000-panel solar array, the largest in the state owned by a non-utility.

Included in the $40-million campus are eight main buildings featuring 12 acres of glass facade. A massive basement complex connects all of them. Its four garages each contain 10,000-gallon reservoirs, which can collect up to 400,000 gallons annually of graywater for irrigation, saving 11 million gallons of potable water. Outside, there is a test track, and landscaping features include a brook running between the buildings and a wetland preserve.

The HVAC and plumbing team used BIM and two prefabrication facilities to reduce onsite manpower requirements by 20%. Another software tool, Predictive Solutions, helped ensure safe working conditions, resulting in 450,000-plus hours worked on the project without any recordable accidents.

Delivered within budget, the campus required just 27 months from start to on-time completion in September 2017.
