Pressed by a tight deadline, the team responded with resourcefulness and expert design-build execution, delivering the $16.95-million project $300,000 under budget in August 2017. “Floating” above the stadium, the 85-ft-high structure features 13 suites and a double-tiered press box that accommodates 60 media members and includes spacious television and radio booths for home and visiting teams, all with wireless internet and ethernet connectivity. Removing the existing structure within 3 in. from the stadium was a formidable challenge. Because access was limited to just one side, long-reach excavators with mulchers were used. In the process, asbestos was found beneath the brick veneer, requiring remediation.
