Total value of Nashville construction starts expected to climb to five-year high

Non-building work forecast to jump 36% in 2019, while non-residential and residential activity rises modestly.

Though not the Southeast’s largest construction market, Nashville continues to show impressive activity levels and momentum. “I do not see a slowdown in private development or public work,” says Georgatos. In particular, he says, the hospitality, office and retail project sectors remain “very strong.” And while residential construction has slowed, he believes that Amazon’s recent announcement that it will bring 5,000 jobs to downtown Nashville should spur an uptick in housing construction.
