McCarthy Building Cos. has hired Christine Mostaert as vice president of finance for the Southwest region, where she’ll oversee financial and operational results for Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah. Based on her financial experience working on solar projects, Mostaert will also guide McCarthy’s renewable energy team. She has more than 25 years of experience as a controller and director of finance for major construction companies in Phoenix, Des Moines and Minneapolis. Mostaert is succeeding Kristine Newman, who was promoted to senior vice president, finance, with McCarthy Holdings Inc.
Ware Malcomb hired Douglas Gullo as studio manager, architecture, for its Phoenix office. Gullo has more than 25 years of architecture and business development experience, including having worked on many Phoenix-area office, retail, industrial and medical office projects. He has a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Arizona.
Chuck English was named president of Hunter Contracting Co. A 33-year veteran of the company, English oversees daily operations, aligns the company’s resources with project requirements and develops future business opportunities. Previously, English managed operations for Hunter’s Tucson and Gilbert offices.
Tom “Mando” Kapita has been named Terracon’s regional services manager for geodesign and will be based in Tempe, Ariz. In this role, he is responsible for strengthening and expanding geodesign services within the Rocky Mountain division. He previously worked at Terracon from 2001 to 2013, last serving as geotechnical department manager. His expertise includes civil, mining, power plants, transportation, residential and commercial retail.
Sundt Construction promoted Cade Rowley to Southwest regional manager for its transportation group. Rowley will handle business development, preconstruction, operations and client management for Arizona, New Mexico, El Paso and Southern California. Rowley earned his civil engineering degree from Arizona State University before starting as a field engineer with Sundt nearly 20 years ago. He has served as project manager, area manager, business development manager and preconstruction manager within the transportation group.
Las Vegas-based Carpenter Sellers Del Gatto Architects named Michele K. Brigida as principal. A graduate of the University of Southern California, Brigida has 15 years of architectural experience, ranging from design to construction documents. Her portfolio includes designs for University of Nevada-Las Vegas, the city of Henderson and Zappos.com.
Grand Canyon Development Partners has promoted Cody Wingert to project manager. Wingert is currently managing the Oquendo Center additions and renovations project in Las Vegas, which includes a two-story office building, a theater and a large animal facility.
Cathy Thuringer has been promoted to business unit leader for Trammel Crow’s Phoenix operations. Previously serving as principal, Thuringer will assume responsibility for all development and acquisition projects, finance and overall day-to-day operations of the office. She will also set strategic directions and oversee the financial, risk management and human resource functions. She succeeds Jim Mahoney, who continues to serve as a principal.
