AECOM has started construction on the Frank Gehry-designed Grand Avenue mixed-use project in Los Angeles. With an estimated cost of $950 million, the project calls for construction of a 39-story, 436-unit residential tower and a 20-story Equinox Hotel featuring 309 rooms. The nearly 1.5-million-sq-ft development would also feature 176,000 sq ft of commercial space with a retail podium and include a 450-seat movie theater. The project, designed as a complement to the adjacent Gehry-designed Walt Disney Concert Hall, will feature a public plaza fronting the venue. CCCG Overseas Real Estate Ltd. is the developer. Dragados USA started construction in April on the $630.5-million Joint Water Pollution Control Plant Effluent Outfall Tunnel project in Carson for the Los Angeles County Sanitation District. The work consists of constructing approximately 36,750 ft of 18-ft-dia precast concrete segmental lining tunnel, a 14-ft-dia connecting pipe and an approximately 60-ft-dia tunnel shaft and related work. Devcon Construction is targeting an August 2021 completion of the $550-million Nvidia Headquarters Phase 2 Voyager project for Sares Regis Group Northern California LLC in Santa Clara. The 1.345-million-sq-ft, four-story reinforced concrete building will include 750,000 sq ft of office space with one level of underground parking.
