Nicole Calamaio has been promoted to vice president of talent management at Sundt Construction. Calamaio is responsible for providing human resources and administrative workforce development. She joined Sundt in 2014 as corporate director of total rewards. Three years later, she was promoted to corporate director of human resources. Before joining Sundt, Calamaio worked for more than a decade in talent management with Mortenson.
Stewart Grauer has been promoted to Phoenix regional director for the Sundt Building Group, Southwest district. In his new role, Grauer is responsible for business development, preconstruction and project execution as well as profitability, risk management and talent development.
Phoenix-based Cawley Architects marked 25 years of operations by naming four new partners. Lynette Dreitz, director of finance and administration, oversees the firm’s financial and office administrative staff. She has been with Cawley since 2013. Kevin Fawcett, a project director who joined Cawley in 2013, oversees design and production of projects. David Fulk, project director and a three-year employee with the firm, initiates design and programming of projects. Rafael Macias, director of construction administration and quality assurance, oversees coordination and confirmation of each drawing package.
Ethan S. Nelson has been named a principal at the Las Vegas office of PGAL, where he will work with fellow principals Christopher Larsen and Benjamin Girardin. His responsibilities include business development, contract negotiation, project execution and staff management. Nelson previously served as president of Steelman Partners, overseeing projects for Genting, Imperial Pacific and MGM Resorts. He earned a master’s degree in architecture from Columbia University and received a William E. Kinne Traveling Fellowship.
Jose Aguilar, a professional engineer for Psomas in Tucson, was recently named one of the 2019 New Faces of Civil Engineering by the American Society of Civil Engineers. Aguilar worked on the Ina Road and Interstate 10 interchange project, contributed to the Grand Road project, adopted an innovative method of using drones to capture images for traffic studies and spearheaded a PVC bridge contest for students throughout Arizona.
BJ Peterson has been promoted to project director for the Southwest region in Phoenix for McCarthy Building Cos. Peterson is responsible for the direction of design phase services and construction execution. He will also work directly with clients, ensuring project teams maintain schedule and budget, prioritize safety and adhere to McCarthy’s strict quality standards. He is currently overseeing the $268-million Tomahawk Creek Wastewater Treatment Facility in Leawood, Kan.
Jim Hardison recently joined Layton Construction’s Phoenix office as a senior project manager. He has more than 25 years of experience in construction and real estate, with an emphasis on commercial office and industrial development.
Melissa Jamvold has joined Grand Canyon Development Partners as design manager for The Drew Las Vegas. Jamvold previously held design positions with several Las Vegas firms, including The Siegel Group and Luxy Interiors. She has also worked as an adjunct faculty member for Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design.
