New Mexico

The New Mexico Dept. of Public Safety is reviewing general contracting bids for an approximately $13-million secure storage facility in Santa Fe to secure documents and evidence as required by law. The current materials storage area has exceeded its capacity. This project includes demolition of an existing underground storage vault, temporary relocation of the contents of the vault, relocation of the existing incinerator, construction of an approximately 25,500-sq-ft storage facility and a 2,560-sq-ft vehicle inspection building. Granite Construction has started work on a $20-million fish screen at Derby Dam, 21 miles east of Sparks, Nev., on the Truckee River adjacent to Interstate 80. The horizontal flat plate fish screen is designed to protect anadromous salmonids. Work entails excavation, structural concrete, mechanical, electrical and installation of in-stream and out-of-stream elements. Scope of work includes surveying, quality control testing and inspection, demolition, reinforcing steel, metal work, hydro-seeding, dewatering, electrical and instrumentation controls.
