Kiewit Corp. celebrated on March 9 the topping-out of its 252,000-sq-ft regional headquarters in the RidgeGate community in Lone Tree, Colo. The headquarters will provide a central hub for the company’s Colorado-based staff of 900, who are currently spread across the state in leased office space.
Kiewit’s new regional campus is situated on 12.6 acres of land just west of Interstate 25 at the Lincoln Avenue interchange. Kiewit Building Group is serving as general contractor, with Stantec as architect.
The first phase of construction is expected to be complete in summer 2021. Kiewit also has plans for a second phase of construction to build out the campus.
“In just the last year, we’ve added hundreds of employees here in Colorado to meet increased demand, and that trend doesn’t appear to be slowing,” said Chris Kelner, Kiewit’s national director of preconstruction.
The AGC of Colorado Student Chapter at Colorado State University (CSU) was honored with the National Student Chapter Community Service Award at AGC’s national convention in Las Vegas on March 12. The winning team from CSU included (in green shirts, from left) Nick Anderson, Steven Leighton, Andrew Crane, Vanna Hosanny and Brian Kingsford. The CSU group won $2,000 for a construction remodel benefiting the Panella family—a single father with two children. The family needed an addition to their home to make it more accessible for one of the children, a 13-year-old boy who has cerebral palsy. The project added a ramp, a covered deck and a carport. AGC of Colorado members worked with CSU students to supplement materials and provide labor.
“Construction has a way of bringing people together from all walks of life to help make a lasting impact in our local communities,” said Bryan Cook, executive director of the Construction Education Foundation of Colorado and chapter operations director for AGC of Colorado.
The CSU Community Service Award was one of three Outstanding Student Chapter Awards distributed at the national convention. “The AGC Student Chapter Community Service Award is given to those student chapters that epitomize supporting, engaging and benefiting the community through service,” AGC officials said.
