Before COVID-19 outbreak, value of new contracts was expected to decline 7%

An increase in residential starts won’t overcome decreases in nonresidential and non-building sectors.

The COVID-19 pandemic has definitely impacted Savannah’s construction industry, with health care, hospitality and multifamily projects among those experiencing the greatest impacts, says Price. “Many of these projects have been delayed or incurred project financing challenges,” he says. Publicly funded projects are showing more promise though, with many federal, county, city and public school system work in the area having started recently or else nearing groundbreaking, Price says, citing construction of a new city arena.
