Once a hodgepodge of retail and lodging, the center now features a five-story hotel and spa, a pavilion with a theater, a museum, a welcome center with an interactive 18-ft 3D globe and domed motion theater. Other unique attractions include a replica of the Wailing Wall, catacombs, retail space and an outdoor amphitheater. The welcome center’s distinguishing feature is its stone facade, which called for a nonrecurring stone pattern. The team found a quarry in Jerusalem to produce both the one-of-a-kind, outsized panels and the more traditional, repeating tiles that occur elsewhere on campus. The result was a mechanically fastened stone facade with more than 100 unique shapes.
