After five decades as a Los Angeles landmark, the Music Center Plaza was revamped into an elegant pedestrian destination. While preserving the venue’s 1960s architecture, the 45,000-sq-ft revitalization features five new one-story buildings, including a welcome center, restaurant, wine bar, coffee bar and restrooms.

A key to the transformation was leveling the plaza’s sunken area. To raise the floor connecting the five new plaza buildings and accommodate the anticipated weight load of future events, the team installed an elaborate, layered system of pavers. More than 100 crew members took part in laying the 31,500 concrete paver tiles by hand.
