Westwood Contractors, Fort Worth, has named Stefan Figley as CEO. He officially assumed the role on Dec. 7. Robert D. Benda, who has served as CEO since 2005, will continue with the company as chairman of the board. Figley has more than 24 years of experience and has worked extensively in developing and leading large and small teams in the U.S. and abroad for national and international brands including Steamatic, where he most recently served as president until its sale to an international public company.

Powers Brown Architecture, Houston, has promoted Bruce J. Walck to president. Walck, a principal of the firm since 2008, has worked in the Houston headquarters and also established Canadian offices in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Toronto. Walck joined Powers Brown in 2003 as a project manager; in 2008 the founding partners named him the firm’s first new principal.

The firm also announced that principal Lauren Amber Prestenbach is relocating from the Denver office to Houston. Prestenbach is one of ENR’s 2021 national Top 20 Under 40. She advocated to help pass Colorado legislation for interior design professionals to become legally recognized and licensed and thus ensure their design qualifications and education.

Baird, Hampton & Brown, Fort Worth, recently announced 10 employee promotions. Craig Gregory, senior electrical engineer, has been promoted to vice president of facilities engineering. During his 27 years at BHB, Gregory has provided design, supervision and project management for medium-voltage distribution for overhead and underground systems and for building power, lighting, and control systems. Shonnah Driver, director of marketing, has been promoted to senior associate. Driver started at BHB in 2008 as a part-time intern, and is the first woman and non-technical professional to be named a firm associate. BHB also promoted civil engineer Skylar Wierzbicki to project manager. Along with her current role, she will now be tasked with the planning, delegation, execution and success of projects from start to finish.

The following seven individuals were promoted to associates: Ali Buron, mechanical engineer; Allen Grammer, mechanical engineer; Joe LaCroix, civil engineer; Saul Martinez, mechanical engineer; Jeremy Snyder, mechanical engineer; Chad Wallace, civil engineer; and Thomas Wilson, electrical engineer.

DonahueFavret Contractors Inc., Mandeville, La., has named Max Ferran as vice president and director of operations. Ferran joined the firm in 2015 as a senior project manager and corporate safety director. He was elected to the board of directors in 2019. His expertise includes multiple contract delivery methods in medical, hospitality, multifamily, commercial office and retail sectors.

Gensler has announced the appointment of two new principals to its South-Central region. Scott Armstrong was appointed within the Dallas office and Suzanne Schreider was appointed within the Houston office.

Pfluger Architects, Austin, has hired Christian Owens as principal, director of design. A graduate of Texas Tech University, Owens has two decades of experience designing a broad range of project types including K-12, higher education, health care and commercial facilities.

Bowman has hired Ryan Safford as principal in the firm’s Dallas office. Safford spent 15 years at Kimley-Horn prior to joining Bowman and has more than 18 years of project management experience.

PhiloWilke Partnership announced two promotions in its Houston office. Robert Babb was promoted to partner, and Zach Mitchell was promoted to associate partner.

Garver recently announced Jeff Sober as its next director of water services, based in Frisco, Texas. Sober, who has two decades of experience delivering water and wastewater master plans, process designs, operations consulting and more, will lead Garver’s water business line that consists of 200 professionals based in offices across the country. Sober takes the lead after a planned transition for Steve Jones, who will now serve as Garver’s West region water director after leading the water team since 2004. Sober, now a member of Garver’s board of directors, joined Garver in 2012 as the North Texas water team leader, and since 2016 has served as Texas and West region water director.

Cory Chustz has been promoted to director of ISC Engineering, Baton Rouge. For the past seven years, Chustz has effectively led all chemical, civil, piping and mechanical engineering projects as engineering manager. Leveraging more than 22 years of experience, Chustz will focus on expanding ISC’s high-quality, construction-minded engineering expertise throughout the U.S., including small to mid-size EPC solutions.

David Kouth has joined Freese and Nichols as a senior electrical engineer, based in Lubbock, Texas, to expand expertise on the firm’s growing facilities team and to bring additional resources to the West Texas region. He has more than 27 years of experience, including extensive work on commercial and military buildings.

Freese and Nichols also added two nationally experienced project managers with a wide range of geotechnical expertise to its water resource design team in Texas. Sean Kim, based in Houston, has 13 years of experience that includes leading LNG projects in Texas and Louisiana and working on hike and bike trails, levees and pump stations. Gurkan Ozgurel has 16 years of experience that spans diverse geographies and includes engineering design on dams, levees and floodwalls, field work, computer applications and construction administration. He is based in Austin.

Kevin Beyer was promoted to engineering discipline leader at T. Baker Smith, Houma, La. Beyer first joined the firm in 2006 as a project manager and most recently served as lead professional of TBS’s coastal group.

Sundt Construction promoted four employee-owners in its Dallas office: Holly Horsak to senior project manager, Amber Simonson to project manager II, Maria Luna to assistant project manager and Ian Martinez to project engineer. In its San Antonio office, Sundt promoted Jed Heuberger to preconstruction project manager, Hayden Boster to project manager II, Kelton Matthews to cost engineer, Meagen Garcia and Artemio Patino to field engineer II and Zachary Hladek to project engineer II. In its El Paso office, Sundt promoted Mike Dominguez Jr., to project superintendent, Gianna Aguierra to project engineer, Sandra Perez to project engineer II and Alexi Santillan to field engineer II.

Chamberlin Roofing & Waterproofing announced promotions across its Texas offices. In Houston, Eddie Silva was promoted to assistant project manager, Allen Polasek to operations manager and Shane Hubbard to senior operations manager. In Dallas, Edgar Vilchis was promoted to senior safety coordinator. In Austin, Josh Adrian was promoted to operation manager and Pat Halaszyn to senior operations manager. In San Antonio, David Gutierrez was promoted to general superintendent.

Jordan & Skala Engineers announced three promotions in its Dallas office. Jessica Diaz was elevated to plumbing regional director, James Brauer to senior manager of sustainability and Aaron McEwin to director of sustainability. Two employees also celebrated notable work anniversaries. Kendy Guillaume, principal and director of Houston operations, has been with Jordan & Skala for 15 years. He was named one of ENR Texas & Louisiana’s Top 20 Under 40 in 2013. Andy Smith, vice president and principal based in the firm’s Dallas office, is celebrating 25 years with Jordan & Skala. He became the firm’s first employee to receive FitWel Ambassador certification in December.
