As a nonprofit organization, Girl Scouts Western Oklahoma needed to make every penny count in constructing its $10-million urban camp and STEM center, Camp Trivera.

The project team worked with the Girl Scouts to prioritize their wants and needs in order to determine their must-have features. When the initial bid for the project came in high, the team worked with the contractor to reduce overall construction costs.

Numerous special features were included in the project, including tree houses and stargazing porches, and the team sought out unique design choices that offered a big impact at minimal cost. One example was the main lodge—the camp’s focal point—featuring variations of brick layered over cost-effective, pre-engineered metal siding to create a striking visual effect for the building’s exterior.
