Professional services firm STV has appointed Claire Brinkley as vice president and strategic growth director for the firm’s transportation South/Central group, based in Charlotte. With more than 18 years of experience in the transportation industry, Brinkley, a certified planner and professional engineer, previously led the Charlotte office of a national AEC. In her new role, she will collaborate closely with clients in the Carolinas and drive the firm’s strategic expansion into the highway and transit market.
Barge Design Solutions has promoted two employees to officer rank as senior vice president positions: Karen Cosentino, chief people officer, and Erika Booker, director of marketing and communications. Barge has also elevated Carrie Stokes, chief of staff, to executive vice president on the officer bench, while Casey Tyree and Chris Brown have been elevated to senior vice president on the officer bench, retaining their respective positions of director of the private client center and director of the federal client center.
Skanska has appointed Heather Askins as director of business development for its North Carolina and Virginia building operations, based in Raleigh. With more than a decade of experience in business development and professional engineering, Askins previously served as all-in director at Lynch Mykins, focusing on business development strategies in the same region.
A. Morton Thomas and Associates Inc. (AMT) has hired Robert Williams to its Raleigh office as highway group lead. With 23 years of experience in transportation design, Williams brings expertise in projects ranging from intersection improvements to bridge replacements.
ANF Group has promoted multiple executives, including Alberto “Al” Fernandez to CEO. Fernandez has led the company as president since 1992. He began his construction career more than 40 years ago with ANF Group, which was founded in 1981 by his father Alberto Fernandez Sr. Nelson Fernandez has been promoted to president of the Davie, Fla.-based company, bringing to the role a tenure of 40 years at ANF, over which time he has accumulated experience in developing professional and medical office space with a primary focus on real estate development. Alberto Gil has been promoted to president from senior vice president. A 38-year veteran of ANF, Gil has managed and completed more than 100 projects worth more than $2.5 billion in construction revenue.
Burns & McDonnell has named Fred Gibson department manager for project controls. He continues to manage the firm’s Oak Ridge, Tenn., office. Gibson joined Burns & McDonnell in 2021, bringing nearly 20 years of experience in leadership, management, strategic planning, process optimization and risk analysis. The firm has also named Alex Garland regional manager for its global facilities group. Garland, who first joined Burns & McDonnell in 2019, has more than a dozen years of experience in the food and beverage industry. The company has named David Miller to the role of regional manager for its aviation and federal group. A licensed civil engineer, he will provide client-focused fueling facilities and infrastructure solutions for commercial airports, airlines and federal entities, bringing years of experience in growing and managing projects and personnel in the aviation and federal markets. Burns & McDonnell has also named Don Chase as program director in the firm’s construction group. After leading the company’s business in Canada, Chase now runs a program with Georgia Power and brings more than 35 years of experience to the firm’s Southeast region.
Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) has hired Jack Monroe, establishing the firm’s presence in Orlando. With more than two decades of experience, Monroe will serve as GMC’s health care practice leader in the region. The expansion into Orlando marks GMC’s continued growth in Florida, with a strategic emphasis on health care architecture to further bolster its ability to support clients and projects in Central Florida.
Dewberry has promoted four staff members in its Raleigh office, including Shepard Hockaday, who has been named executive vice president and the operating unit manager of the firm’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing and structural practice. Hockaday brings more than three decades of experience to the role, including roughly 15 at Dewberry. The firm also promoted three employees to associate vice president: Lacey Martin, Joe Wolhar and Johnny Wood. Martin, regional director of Southeast marketing, brings almost 15 years of experience to the role. Wolhar, building services structural department manager for the firm’s Raleigh office, has more than 35 years’ experience in design of various structural systems. Wood is a regional education market segment leader, directing the Raleigh office’s building engineering group with more than 30 years’ experience. Dewberry has also hired Damien Di Vittorio as senior project manager to support the firm’s resilience and planning practice from the Raleigh office, providing management and delivery of resilience infrastructure planning and analysis projects.
CROFT & Associates has promoted three employees, all based in Georgia, to associate: Wei Lu, an architect in the firm’s K-12 design studio; Amy Hadlow, a mechanical engineering department manager; and Parker Davis, responsible for designing and overseeing the design of electrical systems supporting CROFT’s local and national projects. Lu will oversee design and construction for education projects while collaborating with the engineers and contractors to ensure projects are being implemented on schedule and within budget.
CJMW Architecture + Interior Design recently transitioned to a new ownership and management structure, alongside relocating its offices to Winston-Salem, N.C. Former principals Tom Calloway and Alan Moore, with the firm since the 1970s, completed an internal share transition in late 2023. Kathleen Warner, principal, assumes the role of firm president. The new leadership team comprises three other managing principals: John Drinkard as chief financial officer, Mike Griffin as director of branch offices and Jeff Sowers as director of architecture. The selection of Warner as president aligns with her proven leadership and vision for the future, the firm says, while the firm also named new principals and associates.
Integrated design-build firm A M King has appointed Dan Crist as president. Crist assumes comprehensive oversight of the company’s design, construction operations and business development functions alongside coordinating management. With more than 20 years’ experience, Crist began his tenure at A M King in 2004 as a project manager shortly after the firm’s inception.
Walter P Moore has promoted Peter White to managing director for the diagnostics group at the firm’s Charlotte office. With 20 years’ experience encompassing all facets of diagnostics engineering, including parking restoration, enclosure diagnostics and forensic assessments, White assumes a pivotal role in assessing, designing and overseeing repairs for building envelope and structural systems across various construction types.
WSP has appointed Damien Graham as local business leader for the Carolinas, tasked with driving operational growth and team leadership for public and private sector clients. Graham, with more than 25 years of experience in marketing, communications and public affairs, most recently as communications director for the city of Raleigh, managing communications for an organization of 7,000 employees with a $1-billion budget.
