Jacobsen Construction crews prepare to place the final beam at the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine building at the University of Utah. The 211,457-sq-ft teaching, training and research facility will include a high-tech anatomy lab, tailored classrooms, an advanced simulation center and collaborative spaces as well as conference auditoriums that will serve the 500-plus students in the university’s medical program.

The eight-story building, which is nestled into the hillside in the heart of the University of Utah Health campus, will replace the old School of Medicine facility that was built in the 1960s.

Work on the project began with the groundbreaking in October 2022. The installation of the first structural steel started in February 2024. VCBO Architecture and Yazdani Studio are the project’s design partners.
