Adding 792 beds across 292 student apartments helped boost Georgia Tech’s off-campus housing stock. Hub Atlanta blends convenience, culture and connectivity at the heart of Atlanta. Standing 19 stories, the building is located in the city’s Midtown neighborhood. Just minutes from campus and the Midtown MARTA station, Hub Atlanta provides students with an urban, independent lifestyle without sacrificing campus proximity.

The $88.9-million project faced a three-month delay at the start as it had to wait for the lease on an existing nightclub to expire before beginning work on underground utilities and foundations.

Approximately 40% of trade partners on the project were new to construction manager Juneau Construction. The project started during the COVID pandemic. The team was able to mitigate most material price escalations and avoid additional costs to the project. The team also overcame a three-month schedule delay caused by a glass and glazing trade partner, requiring all interior finishes to be resequenced and delaying dry-in of the entire building. One trade partner went out of business during the project.

The project was on a zero lot line site that required just-in-time deliveries, and crews had strict start-stop times for construction because they were surrounded on all sides by residential buildings.

The project was Juneau Construction’s first high-rise constructed in Atlanta, and the team successfully completed it on time and under budget.
