In honor of Sundt Foundation’s 25th anniversary, three Sundt Construction employee-owners competed to see who could raise the most money to help fight breast cancer. Together—and with a dollar-for-dollar match from Sundt—Scott “Sketti” LaPoint, Melissa “Machine Gun” Moreno and Danny “Bubba” Gumm collectively brought in more than $319,000 through the contractor’s “Ink It & Pink It” campaign.

The original plan was for the “loser” to get a Sundt tattoo and have their hair—or beard—dyed pink for the cause. But in the end, all three competitors opted to get “inked and pinked” during a live reveal at the contractor’s Tempe, Ariz., headquarters on Oct. 10.

LaPoint, Moreno and Gumm each received Sundt-themed tattoos, just like the one proudly worn by the firm’s CEO, Mike Hoover. The three also had their hair dyed pink, with LaPoint and Gumm opting for matching pink beards.

“It really shows off Sundt’s unique, gritty culture—all for a great cause,” says Stefanie Teller, Sundt chief communications officer. The contractor’s motto is “Skill. Grit. Purpose.”

The funds will be distributed to local nonprofit organizations within Sundt’s 12 giving communities to support those fighting breast cancer. The company-themed tattoos were donated by Reinkarnate Tattoo of Apache Junction, Ariz.
