Suffolk took over the mixed-use development while pandemic-era restrictions were still in place one year after construction halted in 2020 under a different developer and construction manager. The structure was complete, but the mast climbers used to erect the complex and travertine stone facade needed to be inspected before work could resume. The two hotels’ interiors also needed to be inspected. The project team used the photo technology platform OpenSpace to document construction progress. Using a small camera attached to workers’ hardhats, the technology captures 360-degree photos and records the path of the worker—allowing for creation of a virtual jobsite walk. OpenSpace helped preconstruction efforts by allowing for more in-depth team review of photos and documentation after walking the jobsite. The project includes 236 luxury condominiums, a 120-room five-star hotel, ground-floor retail and a landscaped public plaza. It features two distinct towers—a 36-story west tower and a 26-story east tower.
