Company sees big business gains with him at the helm

Magent has made a big impression in a short time at The Butz Family of Cos. Shortly after joining the firm in 2005 as the director of business development in the State College office, he quadrupled sales for the office, which regularly tops $100 million in revenue. In 2008, he was named general manager for the State College office. In 2012, he was given a new position—business development and strategic initiatives director. In this additional role, he leads the integration of business development and marketing efforts of all three Butz Family entities (AH Butz, Alexander and Shoemaker) serving the mid-Atlantic region. Butz Enterprises Inc. was ranked 273 in the 2012 ENR Top 400 Contractors list under Magent's leadership, jumping nearly 100 spots from 2011.

Mascaro's path to the executive ranks started in the trenches. He began as an intern in the company's accounting and estimating departments and worked as a laborer during two subsequent summer internships. Following his graduation from Washington & Jefferson College, he became a full-time estimator. He later gained practical field experience as a project engineer before starting his business development career path. In 2007, he assumed his current role as vice president and CCO. Mascaro is a champion of the company's strategic goal to increase corporate efficiency and production by implementing relevant technology. He is actively involved in the Master Builders' Association of Western Pennsylvania, where he strives to build a brand for the industry and shape a more positive perception of contractors. In his previous role on the MBA's Young Constructors Committee, Mascaro assisted young constructors to develop a better understanding and appreciation of each other's roles.
