Maryland Dept. of Juvenile Services is planning a new 48-bed detention center on the grounds of the Thomas O'Farrell Center in Marriottsville. The facility will include space for housing, dietary service, education, somatic and behavioral health, indoor and outdoor recreation, administration and general support. District of Columbia

The General Services Administration Office of Design and Construction is soliciting general contractors for bids on the first phase of the U.S. Diplomacy Center in Washington. Phase 1 will include the Pavilion, which will serve as the Dept. of State's Harry S. Truman Building, and Hall 1, which will be used for exhibition space. Construction Starts

Virginia

Harvey-Cleary Engineers and Builders has started construction on the $80-million Tysons Tower office building and parking garage in McLean. Work on the foundation is under way, and the project is expected to be completed in May 2014. The tower was designed by Gensler.
